I am Rhinoceros. My name is Nut. O! Traveller! I am standing in front of you. My weight is around 2400 kgs. Did you brought weighing scale to weigh me?
O! Poor human! If I snort and charge against you, you will run away at break neck speed. Ha!Ha!
I am the resident of Kaziranga National Park. Where is kaziranga National Park, I did not know! Everybody says that it is in India. Specifically it is in the state of Assam, one of the states of mighty India. I have overheard it. I know only land, river, forest and fresh air only. I do not know the differentiation of country, race, caste or any differentiation.
In the past, we were hunted for our horn. There was a belief that our horns will be remedy for some human ailments. No scientific proof for it. Some others hunted my ancestors for making dagger handles.
Dear friend! You will doubt, how would might my ancestors be hunted? We were hunted by weapons; sometimes, we were tranquilized and hunted. Bad hunters! Only for money, they hunted us. So, merciless hunters.
Like you, we are also different among ourselves, black or white or hook-lipped or square-lipped.
My relatives are in Java, Sumatra, South Africa also. If you have met my relatives in other places, tell them that we are happy here. Sometimes merciless hunters trouble us and kill us even though we are not troubling anybody or snatching anybody’s right to habitat.
We are very much thankful to Indian government for protecting us and also thankful to Rhino foundation for nature, World wide fund for nature and Wild life trust of India for fighting for us and ensuring safe habitat for us.
Dear friend! I am Rhino!Your wildlife friend!! Help me to live long and do not buy the sleek artefacts made of my horn and medicines made by quacks, out of my horn.
